Bio 195- HY1- Biotechnology Basics: Nucleic Acids This course is designed as an introduction to foundational Biotechnology or molecular biology techniques. It is perfect for someone interested in learning about molecular laboratory techniques for the first time, or for someone who would like a refresher on lab techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA quantification, vector preparation and DNA sequence analysis. This course is a two credit course, and will meet face to face for 3 (MWF) 9-hour days in the lab (2 four hour lab blocks plus lunch break in between), followed by a 3-4 hour virtual session a week or so later for sequence analysis and pedagogy discussions. Bio 195- HY3 Teaching a CRE This course is designed as an introduction to foundational Biotechnology or molecular biology techniques. Prepares students so they may be eligible to take certification exams for driving school instructors in both public and private schools. Please check college catalog for Pre-Requisites.   Description: Foundations of Traffic Safety is the first of two courses required by the Virginia Department of Education teacher licensure to add an endorsement in driver education to the Virginia teaching license. Students are required to also complete the second course in order to become licensed. After successful completion of both courses, students will be required to pass a competency exam. In this course, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the highway transportation system, the complexity of the driving task, factors contributing to the performance of highway users, and attitudes and skills necessary to develop competent drivers. ITD 195 HY1 : Let¿s Build a Robot Buggy: from Code to the Road Course Description: That¿s right, you are going to build a buggy that is controlled by code! In this class we are going to learn the basics of coding using the Python programming language. As you learn to code, you will be working on several fun projects to showcase your newfound coding skills. You will also learn a little bit of networking. By combining your coding skills and networking knowledge, you will be able to build a buggy that operates on the code you wrote with no wires attached!
